The Toy Poodle originated in France. It is also popular in its skill as a gundog, waterfowl retriever and performer in circus as well. People believe that the Toy Poodle is a descendant of the Barbet and the Hungarian Water Hound. This dog is a good companion and is also used in dog shows.

The toy Poodle is often confident and proud. Their gait is lively and they are elegant too. This dog breed is very athletic and agile. They also display features like their webbed paws and natural drop ears.

Unlike any other dogs, the Toy Poodle should be given a bath everyday.  Every six weeks, the coat should be clipped. Show, Puppy, Continental and English Saddle are the four different styles of clipping for this dog. You have to regularly clean the ears and trim the nails of the Toy Poodle for its neatness. Also, dental hygiene should be taken into consideration. Different health problems may be experienced by this dog breed such as ear infections, eye problems, slipped stifle, etc. Neatness should be guided to avoid skin problems.

It is best if the Toy Poodle is exposed to people when they are still puppies. Because of their intelligence, they are very easy to train. They are the easiest pets to train. They are sensitive too that is why they do not respond to harsh treatments. Trainers have to be patient but firm in order to train them very well.
