Breed Overview Information :The Pekingese is most popularly known as “The Peke”. Over 2000 year ago, the Pekingese is a favored imperial pet in China. This dog breed originated in that country. For some centuries, it is only the members o the Chinese Imperial Palace are allowed to have them. Their appearance is like Chinese lions that is why they are also referred to as the guardian spirits by the Chinese.

A well balanced breed, the Pekingese is small but fearless puppy. They are aristocrats and that is why they have to be pampered. They are good companions as well and show their dignity. It can also be observed that they are independent.

Breed Coat Information :The Pekingese breed has a double coat. Their outer coat is long and feathery as well. It is also straight and extravagant which gives a very glamorous appearance. The texture of their under coat is soft and plush. The crowning glory of this breed is its coat.  They can have variety of colors and are average shedders too.

The Pekingese breed is usually loving, affectionate and friendly. However, they are also stubborn sometimes.
