| Breed Overview Information : | The Mountain Cur fondly referred to as the “pioneer dogs of the Southern mountains” are great hunters and farm workers. They are excellent in hunting small animals such as squirrels and rabbits. As farm workers, they can handle animals larger than them such as bulls and the like. There was a time that their numbers decreased dramatically but fortunately, their numbers have improved over the past few years. Mountain Curs are very protective and will bite or bar or do whatever is necessary to safeguard its family. However, they are not appropriate pets and will not do so well in households due to its natural hunting abilities. |
