| Breed Overview Information : | The Machester Terrier or “Rat Terrier” was utilized as a rat or vermin hunter during the 19th century by John Hulme from Manchester, England. The Manchester Terrier is referred to as one of the best vermin hunters in the world. There were even rumors that Billy, a Manchester terrier was able to kill 100 rats in less than 10 minutes. It comes in two kinds: standard and toy. The toy type Manchester terrier was highly popular during the reign of Queen Victoria in England when small dogs were favored. Today, the Manchester’s terrier’s popularity has decreased although they still serve as great companions and rat hunters. |
