It was referred to as the little lion since its coat was usually cut and shaped to resemble one. It was mostly favored by nobles and aristocrats. However, during the 20th century, these small dogs nearly became extinct. They were even featured in the Guinness Book of World Records as the rarest and most expensive breed in the world.
