Breed Overview Information :Despite its giant size, the Great Dane dog breeds are just like small dogs due to their gentle personality.  In fact, this breed has been referred to as the ‘Gentle Giant’.    The Great Dane is said to be the tallest dog breed according to Great Dane Dog Breed information’s, together with another dog breed: the Irish Wolfhound. 
Breed Character Information :

First they are way more costly than other dog types and they are more prone to the following medical conditions: bloat, hip displasia, etc.  With the Great Dane being a very large dog, not making it go through puppy training as well as obedience training is a No-No.  This is because the owner should have control over a dog this tall or this large.  Great Dane ownership though is really a good thing because of the friendly nature of this breed as well as its loyalty and sensitivity to the feelings of its master.

 

Breed Activity Information : 

Great Danes do not require a lot of exercise.  In fact, excessive exercise of this breed will lead to hip dysplasia.  That is why a hakf hour up to a one hour walk is the only needed fitness activity daily for your Great Dane.  Jogging with your Great Dane is also a good activity to do.

Breed Care Information :

Caring for a Great Dane puppy does not require frequent coat brushing since it is a short haired dog.  Weekly coat brushing is sufficient as well as weekly bathing.  However, Great Danes require dental care, ear cleaning and toenail trimming more than any other dog breed.

Breed Training Information : 

Great Danes should never skip puppy training especially the basic commands: sit, down, heel, stay, and come.  Obedience training of course is also a requirement because of their large size.  Great Danes should also be trained on not to bite even during the course of play and not to jump on people unless allowed to by the people they would like to jump on.  Because of the fact that this breed is sensitive, the training method should be motivational.
