Breed Overview Information :In the 19th century, German hunters needed a dog who was a great tracker, with a good nose and would be able to retrieve well.  That is why they decided to breed dogs such as the Foxhound, Old Spanish Pointer, and other hounds and came up with the German Shorthaired Pointer puppy.  German Shorthaired Pointer Breed Dog Breed information’s speaks of this breed as an excellent hunting dog and gun dog that requires only minimal training.

The German Shorthaired Pointer is definitely not one of the small dogs, but is actually from the medium sized dogs family.  This breed is active and at the same time affectionate towards their masters.   They have the tendency of being distracted quickly but is never nervous.
