This breed is not one of the small dogs or even large dogs but rather are medium sized dogs. The two terrier breeds mentioned are very similar with the only difference lying in their coats---a Smooth Fox Terrier puppy has a smooth and dense coat while the Wire Fox Terrier’s coat has a wiry, broken and dense texture. Fox Terrier dog breeds were made useful to aid in fox hunting. | | Breed Character Information : | Fox Terriers are described as intelligent and what is so good about them is that they observe other dogs’ weaknesses and will in the end learn from them. A Fox Terrier puppy has a very strong character and is really among the bravest dog breeds on earth. | | Breed Coat Information : | Fox Terriers may have a smooth and flat coat that is dense in texture if they belong to the Smooth Fox Terrier clan; However, if your fox terrier is part of the Wire Fox Terrier breed, then the coat will also be dense but more on the wiry side, and is broken in appearance. Coat colors may be plain white or a combination of white and tan as well as black and tan shades. | | Breed Temperament Information : | Similar to most of the small dogs, Fox Terriers are a happy lot and are really endearing. They are stubborn and spunky and would not think twice in trying to overpower larger dogs and other animals with sizes double than theirs. Fox Terrier breeds do have a cheerful disposition though they are bred for hunting---and so they are at times a threat to smaller animals such as squirrels, rabbits, etc. | | Breed Ownership Information : | Fox Terrier Dog Breed information’s tell us that Fox Terriers are fun dogs but are not really meant for people without prior experience in dog ownership. This is because terriers are stubborn and have a wicked sense of humor and owners of these puppies should be confident and assertive enough in handling them. This is a breed that tends to be manipulative so they are best placed in the ownership of “dog experts.” | | Breed Activity Information : | Fox Terriers are very active dogs and would love to be part of a lot of activities. Examples of great activities for them would be: small game hunting, fly ball, obedience activities as well as family activities such as camping, sailing, hiking, even watching TV. | | Breed Care Information : | Fox terriers are breeds that do not really shed hair. You may brush terriers once a week and this would surely keep the “doggy odor” away. However, owners should make sure that the coat is stripped of dead hair, if any. Caring for fox terriers would also mean that you should be prepared because they are the types that are really energetic that they have ways of escaping from a fence. Make sure that your yard and house is secured to prevent losing your fox terrier. | | Breed Training Information : | A firm training method should be applied on fox terriers as they tend to be stubborn. Obedience training is also a must during their young stage. These puppies should be trained to behave and do away with digging as they love this particular kind of activity. | Fox Terrier Video :
