Breed Overview Information :English Setters are not small dogs but are medium in size and is considered as one of the earliest gun dog breeds that have been present way back the 14th century.  The English Setter puppy has been called at first as the “Setting Spaniel” because of its task of setting and finding birds.
Breed Character Information :The English Setter makes a fine pet for kids because of its gentle characteristic and also because it is one of the lovable dog breeds.   However, the English Setter may also be a bit willful at times and is quite sensitive to the tone of voice.  Therefore, it is good for its owner to be an experienced one.  English Setters are highly intelligent dogs and according to the English Setter Breed information’s they can learn every task taught to other breeds with only one exception: herding.  An English Setter is not really that easy to train because it gets distracted easily whenever it is outdoors.
Breed Coat Information :  The long and silky coat hair of an English Setter makes it beautiful.  Coat colors are also lovely ranging from blue, white, orange, or a combination of the colors mentioned.  The English Setter puppy has a flat coat with the coat hairs being medium in length.  English Setters are now often used as show dogs because of their beauty.
Breed Temperament Information :English Setters will have no issues in mingling with other dogs whether small dogs, large dogs, even with cats.  However, other animals that are smaller in size are not recommended to be placed near this breed.  English Setters are naturally friendly and has a calm disposition and can be around children.
Breed Ownership Information :If you want a household pet then an English Setter would be a fine choice.  It will be happy playing outdoors but would also have no qualms about living indoors.  English Setters demand affection and attention so it is a must that you as an owner would be able to spend quality time with your English Setter.
Breed Activity Information :   English Setters would need regular exercise at least once a day for them to be able to stay fit.  They will love running around in the yard but that should be fenced to prevent them from wandering around getting lost.
Breed Care Information :English Setter Breed information’s describes the English Setter as healthy breed with only a few health issues (mostly genetic) such as hip dysplasia, congenital deafness, hypothyroidism, to name a few.  English Setters also have a great tendency to become overweight so it is a must for you to watch the amount of food your English Setter is eating daily.  To keep its coat healthy, regular brushing will suffice.  Bathe only on an as needed basis.
Breed Training Information :  The best training method for your English Setter would be positive reinforcement. It is a must for training to start at an early age in order to prevent your English Setter from forming bad habits.    Early socialization and house breaking are both required for your English Setter.
