| Breed Overview Information : | The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is very rare and hard to obtain. Its numbers are near extinction with only a little more than a hundred worldwide. This breed resulted from a breeding program in Georgia, United States by the Lane family. This breeding program was originally started in order to raise the numbers of the “plantation dog” of Georgia that was nearing extinction. This breed descended from the Lane family’s patriarch’s dog, Otto. This dog named Otto was said to be an excellent guard dog even patrolling his owner’s grave due to his undying devotion. Lana Lou Lane continued the program until her untimely death in 2001. Now the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is bred for its excellent guarding abilities as well as its ability to provide incomparable companionship. |
