Breed Overview Information :The Akita breed originated in Japan and is considered its native country’s national dog. In the past, they were highly renowned and owned mostly by nobles and aristocrats. It was utilized as an imperial guard, a hunting companion and retriever. They are highly renowned for their hunting abilities since they can resist all types of terrain. In Japan, small Akita figurines are given to sick people since this breed is thought to symbolize health. This breed was introduced to the United States after World War 2.
Breed Character Information :

The Akita is very affectionate and loyal to its owners. Akitas are great with children, particularly those that are older and more mature. However, they may not be so accommodating with children, animals and other people they do not know. It thrives on human companionship and enjoys taking part in family activities. It is an excellent guard dog but does not bark excessively.

Breed Coat Information :
